Terms of Service

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SpeakLaw (“SpeakLaw,” “we,” “us”), including our website, mobile app, and related services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

You must be at least 16 years old to use SpeakLaw. If you are using the Service on behalf of a school or organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. What SpeakLaw is

SpeakLaw is a study companion for Philippine law students: case digests, full-text decisions, codals, and AI-graded practice (cold-call recitations and bar-style questions).

SpeakLaw is a study aid, not legal advice, and not an official source of law. AI-generated digests, grading, and feedback can be incomplete or wrong. Always verify anything you rely on against the official case text, codal provisions, or a qualified professor — never against SpeakLaw alone.

3. Your account

You sign in with Google or a one-time email code — SpeakLaw does not store passwords. You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for all activity under your account.

You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. We may suspend or terminate an account that we reasonably believe is being used fraudulently, abusively, or in violation of these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t use SpeakLaw to: violate any law; scrape, resell, or redistribute case digests, full texts, or AI feedback in bulk; attempt to reverse-engineer or circumvent usage limits; upload malicious code; or interfere with the Service’s normal operation.

Practice answers you submit for grading should be your own work. Using SpeakLaw to complete an assignment on someone else’s behalf, or in a way that violates your school’s academic-integrity policy, is your responsibility, not ours.

5. Plans, sessions, and payments

Case content — cases, digests, full text, and codals — is free for every signed-in student. Some features, such as additional AI-graded practice sessions beyond the free weekly allowance, may require a paid plan or one-time top-up.

If you purchase a paid plan, you authorize us (or our payment processor) to charge the payment method you provide. Prices, included quotas, and available plans may change; we’ll do our best to give you notice before a change affects an active subscription. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

6. Apple App Store and Google Play

If you downloaded SpeakLaw through the Apple App Store or Google Play, these Terms are an agreement between you and SpeakLaw only, not with Apple or Google — they are not responsible for the Service or its content and have no obligation to provide maintenance or support.

If the Service fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple or Google and they may refund you the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, they have no other warranty obligation regarding the Service.

Subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — we can’t process store subscription cancellations directly.

Apple and Google (and their subsidiaries) are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

7. Intellectual property

SpeakLaw’s software, design, and AI-generated digests/feedback are owned by SpeakLaw or its licensors. Case texts and codal provisions themselves are public-domain government material — we don’t claim ownership over the underlying law, only over our presentation, digesting, and tooling around it.

You keep ownership of what you write (practice answers, notes). By submitting content to SpeakLaw, you give us a limited license to store, process, and display it back to you, and to use it (in de-identified, aggregate form) to improve grading quality.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. AI grading is probabilistic and can be wrong — it is a study tool, not a substitute for your own judgment, your professors, or the official text of the law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpeakLaw and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including exam results, academic outcomes, or reliance on AI-generated content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (or, if you’re on the free plan, to ₱500).

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings — this removes your profile, collections, and practice history. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence require otherwise. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the courts of Poland, subject to the same exception.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as SpeakLaw evolves. If a change is material, we’ll let you know (e.g. by email or an in-app notice) before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
